Bulldogs Cruise to Tri-Match Sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy and Wesley

Freshman Lauren Hickey had 19 kills in the two wins over Gwynedd-Mercy and Wesley on Saturday.

Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2008) – The DeSales University volleyball team made it 15-straight wins at home sweeping a tri-match with Gwynedd-Mercy College and Wesley College on Saturday morning/afternoon in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs started the day with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-16) win over the Griffins and finished the day with a 3-1 (25-12, 25-13, 24-26, 25-17) win over the Wolverines. DSU is now 11-8 overall on the season.

In the day's opening match freshman Lauren Hickey (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) led the way with 10 kills and fellow freshman Cait Trovato (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) added a team-best 13 digs in the win. Senior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and senior Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) each had eight kills and senior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) totaled 30 assists.

In the win over Wesley Rivera led the way with 17 kills and sophomore Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) added 10 kills and two blocks. Hickey totaled nine kills and two blocks and Grube finished with four blocks. Uliana dished out 42 assists, had nine digs and four service aces, while junior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled a match-high 21 digs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, October 1^st when they travel to King's College for a Freedom Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
