BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (October 13, 2009) – Another strong defensive effort was not enough as the DeSales University field hockey team was unable to find the back of the cage, falling to Eastern University, 2-0, in a Freedom Conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the Freedom, while Eastern improves to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom. EU enjoyed a 16-2 advantage in shots, including an 11-1 edge in the second half. The Eagles also totaled 14 penalty corners to DeSales' two in the game.

Eastern struck first at the 6:57 mark when Kimberly Campbell scored off an assist from Lindsay Moyer. That lead stood into the half and for much of the start of the second half until Moyer connected for her seventh goal of the season, a rocket from the top of the circle off a corner feed from Yvonne Herbster, at the 54:56 mark.

Freshman Victoria DelToro (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was once again strong in between the pipes, making 10 saves to keep DSU in the game.

DeSales returns to action this Friday when they travel to Albright College for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
