Wilkes-Barre, PA (October 13, 2009) – Sophomore Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored just over nine minutes into the game staking the DeSales University men's soccer team to a 1-0 lead that stood up the rest of the game as the Bulldogs back on track with a Freedom Conference win over King's College on Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs are now 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom and hand the Monarchs their first Freedom loss of the season as KC falls to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom.

Long's goal was his fifth of the season as junior Aaron Gildner (Slatington, PA/Parkland) found Long on a breakaway on the left side. It was Gildner's third assist on the year as Long's shot beat the keeper to the right post.

Senior Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) was excellent in goal, making his first start of the year. He had six saves to record his first shutout of the year. He becomes the third keeper this season to record a shutout for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will look to make it two in a row on Saturday, October 17th when they host FDU-Florham in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
