Bulldogs Come From Behind in 2-1 Win at Albright

Junior Jamie Matthews had two assists in the win at Albright on Friday evening.

Reading, PA (October 16, 2009) – The DeSales University field hockey shook of an early Albright College goal to win its fourth straight non-conference game with a 2-1 win over the Lions on a chilly Friday evening.

DeSales improves to 6-9 overall, while the Lions fall to 5-11 overall. Both teams had 10 shots in the game, while the Bulldogs held a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman Victoria DelToro (Bethlhem, PA/Liberty) made two saves in goal in the win.

After Albright scored the game's first goal just 4:17 into the game, DSU countered as junior Amy Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) scored her fifth goal of the year just 1:44 later off an assist from fellow junior Jamie Matthews (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown). The game remained tied at the half as Albright enjoyed a 4-3 edge at the break in shots.

The game remained tied 15 minutes into the second half until another junior, Kelsey Strowhouer (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine), tallied her fourth goal of the year on another assist from Matthews for the game-winner at the 51:20 mark.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, October 21st when they travel to Manhattanville College for Freedom Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
