Madison, NJ (October 25, 2009) – The DeSales University field hockey team took a 1-0 lead but was unable to find the back of the cage the rest of the game in a 2-1 loss at FDU-Florham in overtime of a Freedom Conference game on Sunday afternoon.

DSU falls to 6-11 overall and 0-5 in the Freedom, while the Devils fall to 6-12 overall and 2-4 in the Freedom. FDU-Florham had a 14-8 edge in shots and a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners in the game. The Bulldogs will conclude its 2009 schedule this week when they host King's College and Misericordia University in Freedom Conference games beginning at 4:00 pm on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

Junior Kelsey Strowhouer (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead 23:19 into the game when she scored off an assist from freshman Alyssa Knappenberger (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton). That lead lasted just 2:24 as the Devils' Kelsey Kistle scored at 25:43 to tie game at one and that scored stood into the half.

The second half saw both teams struggle to get anything going offensively as only six shots were recorded as the game went into overtime. FDU needed just 3:58 into the first overtime to score the game-winner as Lauren Guenther found the back of the cage handing the Devils the win.

Freshman Victoria DelToro (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) made six saves for the Bulldogs in the loss.
