Center Valley, PA (October 3, 2009) – The DeSales University women's soccer team controlled play for the entire 90 minutes, topping Delaware Valley College, 5-0, in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on what turned out to be a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

The win is the third straight for the Bulldogs move to within one game of .500 with a 5-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the Freedom Conference. DVC falls to 0-7, 0-1 Freedom with the loss. DeSales held a 48-6 edge in shots and had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks for the game. Sophomore Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) made three saves and has now recorded two straight shutouts and has a scoreless streak of 284:36 minutes.

Sophomore Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) got the scoring started just 4:03 into the game when she tallied her second of the season off an assist from junior Jena Meaney (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy). Senior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) made it a two-goal game at the 33:49 on another assist from Meaney after she found Halpin wide open in front of the net.

In the second half, Meaney got into the scoring act herself when she scored 4:06 into the second stanza on an assist from sophomore Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth). Sophomore Laura Wroge (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) then found the back of the net on a rocket just over the keeper from about 35 yards out. It was Wroge's first of the year and the second of her career. Vollmer then finished off the scoring with her second of the game after dodging past two defenders and beating the keeper to the right at the 79:10 mark.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Monday, October 5th as they travel to Drew University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
