Women’s Soccer Season Ends with 4-1 Loss to Wilkes

Senior Emily LaDuke moved into third place on the all-time scoring list with a goal on Saturday in her final game.

Center Valley, PA (October 31, 2009) – The DeSales University women's soccer team ended its season with a 4-1 loss to Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference game played on another drizzly Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs finish the year with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 mark in the Freedom Conference. Wilkes improves to 7-8-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the Freedom Conference with the win. The game was very evenly played with Wilkes holding a slight 13-12 advantage in shots and both team earning 10 corner kicks, but the Colonels were able to capitalize on its shots in the victory.

DeSales took a 1-0 lead in the game when senior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) scored her fourth of the year, unassisted at the 7:19 mark. The goal was LaDuke's 19th of her career as she moved into sole possession of third place on the all-time scoring list with 55 career points.

Wilkes tied the game at one just over five minutes later when Jenna Sargent scored and the Colonels took a 2-1 lead into the half when Katy Fissel scored at the 18:20 mark. Wilkes tallied two more goals in the second half to provide the final margin.
