Allentown, PA (October 7, 2009) – In a match-up of two of the top teams in the Mid-Atlantic region the DeSales University men's soccer team saw its three-game win streak snapped as local rival Muhlenberg College rallied for two late second-half goals to spoil a 1-0 first-half lead for the Bulldogs in a 2-1 loss on windy Wednesday evening.

DSU falls to 8-3 overall and see its scoreless streak snapped at 382:28 minutes. Muhlenberg improves to 7-3 overall. The Mules held a 22-10 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge in corner kicks in the game. Freshman Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made eight saves for the Bulldogs.

DeSales took a 1-0 lead at the 33:40 mark when senior Tony Aufiero (Wall, NJ/Wall) tallied his third goal of the season on a penalty kick. It was Aufiero's second PK goal of the season as he is now 2-for-2 in PK's. The lead held thru the half as both teams broke for halftime.

The second half saw Muhlenberg control play, using a 9-1 advantage in shots in the second half to eventually tie and win the game. The tying goal did not come until the 77:32 mark when Tom Reilly headed home a cross from Eric Miller. Just under nine minutes later at 86:23, MC took the lead when Mike Gehrmann took control of a loose ball in the box off a corner kick service and put it in the back of the net for the game-winner.

DSU will return to action on Saturday, October 10th as it returns to Freedom Conference play with an important road game at Eastern University beginning at 3:00 pm.
