Ashland, VA (November 29, 2009) – The 19th ranked Randolph-Macon College men's basketball team shot 56.1 percent from the field and used a 24-4 first-half run to defeat the 7th ranked DeSales University men's basketball team, 87-63, in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.

The win improves the Yellow Jackets to 4-0 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-2 overall early in the season. RMC enjoyed a healthy advantage on the glass, out-rebounding DSU, 42-26, and had a huge advantage on the bench as Randolph-Macon's bench out-scored DeSales', 51-8.

A tie game at seven at the 14:23 mark of the opening half was broken open when the Yellow Jackets went on a 24-4 run over the next 12 minutes to lead 31-11 with just under three minutes left to play in the first half. During the run, DSU struggled to score shooting just 1-of-16 from the field over that 12-minute span and committing five turnovers as RMC went into the locker room leading by 20, 38-18.

DSU shot just 21.4 percent from the field and made just 2-of-15 attempts from three-point land. Randolph-Macon on the other hand was 15-for-29 (51.7%) from the field. The Bulldogs had seven turnovers as compared to just three for the Yellow Jackets.

In the second half, DSU got within 17 points once but was never able to get any closer. After both teams pulled down 19 rebounds in the opening half, RMC dominated the glass in the second half, out-rebounding DeSales, 23-7, en route to 15 second-chance points in the second half, staving off any Bulldog rally.

Leading the attack for the Bulldogs was junior Brian Hunter (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) with a season-high 20 points and four assists. Senior Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) also had 21 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
