Collegeville, PA (September 13, 2009) – Sophomore Jonathan Balfour (London, England/Conestoga) scored two goals including the game-winner in the second overtime lifting the DeSales University men's soccer team past Ursinus College, 2-1, in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-1 overall with the win and are now 4-0 in games played away from home. Ursinus falls to 1-1-1 overall. DSU out-shot the Bears, 27-17, and held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks in the win.

UC got on the scoreboard first, scoring just over eight minutes into the second half after both teams went scoreless in the opening half. Ryan Murray got the Bears on the board with penalty kick after a DSU foul in the box.

The Bulldogs continued to play on the offensive most of the game and eventually broke thru for a goal at the 72:14 mark when Balfour deposited his first of the game and the third of the year off an assist from senior Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May).

Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard throughout the rest of regulation as the game headed to overtime. In the first extra session, DSU had all four shots recorded but were unable to score. In the second overtime, the Bulldogs had four more shots, scoring on the fourth as Balfour took a pass from junior Joe Yoha (DuBois, PA/DuBois) and knocked home the game-winner from the left side of the field.

Freshman Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) played well in goal once again, making six saves in the win. The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, September 17th when they host Baptist Bible College in another non-conference game beginning at 4:30 pm.
