Men’s Soccer Falls at Top Ranked Messiah, 3-0

Grantham, PA (September 19, 2009) – The DeSales University men's soccer team played well but fell short in its upset big of the #1 ranked team in the country, Messiah College, falling 3-0 to the Falcons on Saturday evening.

Messiah out-shot DeSales 24-11 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. MC got on the board at the 15:50 into the game when Danny Thompson scored off assists from Jevon Gondwe and JP Fulton. The score stood into halftime before the Falcons scored 4:34 into the second half on a PK and Nick Thompson added a goal at the 55:16 mark to post the final margin.

Freshman Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and senior Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) combind to make eight saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs will return to action a week from today when they host Alvernia University on homecoming at DeSales beginning at 3:30 pm.
