Center Valley, PA (September 26, 2009) – Freshman Steve Krause (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern) scored two goals leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past Alvernia University, 4-0, in front of a large crowd on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-2 overall with the win, while the Crusaders fall to 3-5 overall. DSU held a 22-8 edge in shots and a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks in the win. Freshman Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made three saves and combined with senior Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) to post the second shutout of the season for DeSales.

Krause got DSU on the board just 1:11 into the game when his header of a loose ball in the box found the back of the net for his third tally of the year. He made it 2-0 at the 28:08 mark when senior Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) found him alone in the box for second goal of the game.

In the second half, the Bulldogs controlled play, firing 15 shots. Sophomore Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored his second goal of the season at the 59:00 on a really nice volley into the left upper corner off a corner kick feed from sophomore Jonathan Balfour (London, England/Conestoga (PA)). Junior Sean Baker (Sicklersville, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) then put the exclamation point firing home a shot off the rebound of a shot from senior Marc Leonard (Bondville, VT/Burr and Burton Academy) at the 66:09 mark.

The Bulldogs will look to make it two wins in a row on Wednesday, September 30th when they travel to Arcadia University for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
