BOX SCORE
Center Valley, PA (October 12, 2010) – The DeSales University field hockey team returned home for the first time in five games but their offensive struggles continued as the Bulldogs were held scoreless for the third time in the last six games, falling to Albright College, 1-0, in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
DeSales (5-8 overall) controlled play for almost the entire game, out-shooting Albright (7-5 overall), 15-10, and nearly doubling up on the Lions' penalty corner total, 14-8, but were never able to get one past AC's
Marguerite DeLucas who made eight saves to earn the shutout.
Perhaps the two best scoring chances came off the stick of senior
Kelsey Strowhouer (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine), one in each half. Midway thru the first half she stole the ball from a defender and had a one-on-one with the goalie but her shot hit DeLucas' pads. In the second half, she broke thru on the right side and fired a rocket to the far post that just went wide and no Bulldog was there to touch it in the cage.
Sophomore
Victoria DelToro (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) made four saves in the loss.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they get back into Freedom Conference play with a huge game vs. Wilkes University beginning at Noon. LIVE Stats will be available on the DeSales web site for the game.
