Center Valley, PA (October 23, 2010) – Senior
Amy Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) scored two goals but the DeSales University field hockey team fell short falling to FDU-Florham, 3-2, in a Freedom Conference game on senior day Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (7-10 overall, 1-5 Freedom) were out-shot, 13-12, and the Devils (9-9, 3-3 Freedom) had a 9-7 edge in penalty corners for the game. Both teams had defensive saves including one from freshman
Carly Kunkel (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) early in the first half. It was Kunkel's fourth of the season for the Bulldogs.
Pulcini got the scoring started with an unassisted tally just 3:52 into the game but FDU tied the game at the 11:34 mark on a penalty stroke from
Megan Springmeyer as the score stood at 1-1 entering the half.
The Devils tacked on two more goals, to take a 3-1 lead with the second coming in the 51st minute before Pulcini pulled DeSales within one at the 60:15 mark, taking control of a rebound off a saved shot from freshman
Sam Lavin (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) and depositing her 10th goal of the season. Pulcini's two goals today moved her into fourth place all-time with 25 career goals, just ahead of her sister Jen.

Nicole Schneider (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) made six saves in just her second career start in between the pipes, playing for the injured
Victoria DelToro (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty).
DeSales returns to action this week when they travel to King's College for its final Freedom Conference game of the season on Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 pm.
