Doylestown, PA (October 23, 2010) – Junior Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored just 3:30 into the game and that goal stood up as the DeSales University men's soccer team defeated Delaware Valley College, 1-0, clinching at least one home playoff game in the Freedom Conference playoffs.

The Bulldogs (11-4-2, 4-0-2 Freedom) stay just one point behind Eastern University in the Freedom Conference standings with the win, despite having defeated the Eagles and without a loss in Freedom Conference play. DSU will need a win at King's College next weekend and an Eastern loss or tie vs. FDU-Florham next weekend to earn that #1 seed in the post-season tournament. DSU could also earn the #1 spot with a tie and an Eastern loss.

Long's tally was his 14th of the season and came off an assist from senior Sky Rimmele (Lenhartsville, PA/Moravian Academy). DSU out-shot DVC, 21-11, and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made the only save he was asked to make as the Bulldogs recorded their fourth straight shutout. DSU has not allowed a goal in four straight games and over the last 445:12. Franczak breaks Rusty Riedmiller's consecutive shutout mark by 10:02 and the team breaks the consecutive shutout mark by just under 15 minutes.

DeSales returns to action on Tuesday when they host Widener University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm. LIVE Stats will be available for those unable to attend on the DeSales web site.
