Zabinski Earns Win #100; Bulldogs Clinch #4 Seed in Freedom Playoffs

Head coach Michele Zabinski earned win #100 at King's College on Wednesday night.
Wilkes-Barre, PA (October 27, 2010) – Head Coach Michele Zabinski of the DeSales University volleyball team earned her 100th win on Wednesday night as the Bulldogs defeated King's College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-16), to earn the fourth seed in next week's Freedom Conference playoffs.

The Bulldogs (14-13, 4-3 Freedom) will be making their fourth straight appearance in the Freedom Conference post-season, having won the title in 2007 and advanced to the championship match in each of the last three appearances. DSU will take on top seed and nationally ranked Eastern University on Wednesday, November 3rd beginning at 7:00 pm at Eastern.

Zabinski becomes the third coach in DeSales volleyball history to win 100+ games, joining DSU Hall of Famer, John Gump, who has 198 career wins and Helen Deegan who has 107. Zabinski is 100-81 (.552) in her career on the Bulldogs sidelines.

It was a total team effort in Wednesday night's win with senior Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaling a team-high 10 kills and adding seven digs. Fellow middle hitter, sophomore Paige Horrigan (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin), added eight kills and two blocks and freshman Haley Petrarca (Reading, PA/Wyomissing) finished with eight kills, six digs, and two blocks.

Junior Lauren Hickey (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) finished with seven kills, freshman Emilie Baker (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) totaled five kills, three service aces, and 10 digs, sophomore Justine McNulty (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) had a stat line of six kills, 37 assists, two aces, and 11 digs, sophomore Eden Reichard (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine) totaled 13 digs, and freshman Claire DePew (Denver, PA/Garden Spot) added seven digs.

The Bulldogs conclude the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Neumann University for a tri-match with Richard Stockton College.
