Lauren Hickey (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) tallied a match-high 11 kills and hit .455 for the match leading the DeSales University volleyball team past Wilkes University, 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-23), in a critical Freedom Conference match on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.
The Bulldogs improve to 10-10 overall and 2-2 in the Freedom, while the Colonels fall to 8-12 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom. DSU hit .233 as a team compared to just .044 for the Colonels. The Bulldogs had five team blocks and five service aces without committing a service error in the match. After dominating play in the first two sets, DSU scored the last three points of the third set to win 25-23, including the longest rally of the night with the scored tied at 23.
Sophomore
Paige Horrigan (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) had seven kills and two blocks, freshman
Emilie Baker (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) added six kills and six digs, and senior
Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) finished with five kills, nine digs, and two blocks.
Sophomore
Eden Reichard (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine) finished with a team-high 13 digs, freshman
Claire DePew (Denver, PA/Garden Spot) totaled 11 digs, and sophomore
Justine McNulty (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) finished with 25 assists and six digs.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday evening when they travel cross-town to Muhlenberg College for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
