Long’s Late Tally helps Bulldogs Earn 1-1 Tie at FDU

Madison, NJ (October 9, 2010) – Junior Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored his 12th goal of the season with under seven minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game at one, helping the DeSales University men's soccer team earn a 1-1 double overtime tie at FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference play.

The Bulldogs are now 7-4-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the Freedom Conference, while the Devils move to 6-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Freedom. DSU out-shot FDU, 22-15 and had a 9-6 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made three saves in 110 minutes of action to lower his season GAA to 0.79 on the year.

Junior Jonathan Balfour (London, England/Conestoga {PA}) earned an assist on Long's tally. The Devils had a 1-0 lead for almost the entire game, scoring in the 25th minute of the first half.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, October 12th when they travel to Wilkes University for another important Freedom Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
