Center Valley, PA (December 11, 2010) – All 14 players scored and 11 players registered an assist as the DeSales University men's basketball cruised past PSU-Wilkes Barre, 89-47, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action in Billera Hall.
The Mountain Lions (8-3 overall) were no match for the Bulldogs (6-2 overall) who raced out to a 9-2 lead over the first three minutes, led by as many as 28 points in the first half, and saw its lead peak at 42 points with the final tally. DeSales shot 60.7 percent from the field and canned 7-of-13 from three-point land in the win.
All 14 players scored at least two points, 11-of-14 players registered an assist, and 13 of the 14 players in uniform pulled down a rebound. PSU-WB shot just 28.8 percent from the field and committed 21 turnovers in the loss.
Sophomores
Brett Moyer and
Brian Kerwin led the scoring attack with 12 points each, while junior
Bob Zanneo finished with 11 points off the bench. Senior
Brian Hunter finished with just two points, but dished out a career-high 10 assists in a team-high 22 minutes of action.
DeSales got 56 of its 89 points from the bench including nine points from freshman
Matthew Fusaro, who saw action in his first career game, nine points from freshman
Mike Coleman, nine points from freshman
Matt Poorman, and six points from freshman
Kyle Hash.
The Mountain Lions were led by
Reuben Berry with 11 points and eight points and
Keith Johnson with 10 points, each off the bench.
DeSales is off all next week for first semester final exams and will return to action on Tuesday, December 21st when they travel to Kean University for another non-conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
