Center Valley, PA (September 22, 2010) – Junior Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) continued his terrific start to the season scoring two more goals, including the eventual game-winner, leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past one of its local rivals, Moravian College, 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (6-2 overall) dominated play out-shooting the Greyhounds (2-6 overall), 21-8, in the game and holding a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. The combination of sophomore Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and freshman Mike Thompson (Glenmoore, PA/Bishop Shanahan) did not have to make a save with just one of the eight Moravian shots coming on goal. MC's keepers combined for five saves.

Senior Joe Yoha (DuBois, PA/DuBois) started the scoring at the 18:16 mark when he capitalized on a fumbled ball by the Moravian keeper and knocked a shot into a wide open net for his first tally of the season. Long scored a similar goal at the 31:11 mark to make it a 2-0 game when sophomore Tyler Nolan (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) sent in a long throw-in that the keeper grabbed but he dropped the ball and Long was there to knock in the loose ball for his ninth tally of the year.

Junior Jonathan Balfour (London, England/Conestoga {PA}) got into the scoring act in the second half stealing a ball from a defender and beating the goalkeeper 1-v-1 over the top at the 51:00 minute mark, his third marker of the young season.

Long then provided the exclamation point just 4:34 later taking a long pass over the top of the defense from senior Jon Mill (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and firing a laser beam past a diving keeper to post his 10th nylon finder of the season.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they stay home to host Arcadia University in another non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm on homecoming Saturday at DeSales. LIVE Stats will be available on the DeSales web site for the game.
