Men’s Soccer Foiled in Second Overtime at Alvernia, 1-0

Reading, PA (September 28, 2010) – It took almost 114 minutes but someone finally scored a goal as Alvernia University was able to find the back of the net, defeating the DeSales University men's soccer team, 1-0, in two overtimes in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening under the lights.

The goal came off the foot of Eric Franks as he dribbled thru the defense and scored in the lower right corner of the pipes. DeSales (7-3 overall) held a 14-12 advantage in shots, while Alvernia had an 8-7 edge in corner kicks (6-2-1 overall).

The Bulldogs' keeper, sophomore Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made seven saves in the loss.

DSU returns to action this Saturday when they open up Freedom Conference play, hosting Manhattanville College beginning at 3:30 pm. LIVE stats will be available for the game.
