Center Valley, PA (October 12, 2011) – The DeSales University women's soccer team scored first but Wilkes University countered with four unanswered goals, defeating the Bulldogs, 4-1, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (2-10-1, 0-3 Freedom) took a 1-0 lead at the 13:39 mark when sophomore Brady Walsh beat a Colonel defender to a long pass over the top by freshman Alyssa Borgesi.  Walsh took the ball, dribbled into the box, and chipped a shot over the charging Colonel keeper to make it 1-0.

Wilkes tied it eight minutes later when Alicia Roberts scored off a crossing pass from Jana Martin and took a 2-0 lead just five minutes later when Martin did the scoring this time off a feed from Katy Fissel.

The Colonels made it a 3-0 game just before the half when Roberts tallied her second of the game on an assist from Ashley Graham and provided the final margin with just one second left when Martin scored her second of the game, off a corner kick feed from Haley Adam.

Junior Alex Bastinelli and freshman Michelle Churchman combined to make five saves in between the pipes in the loss.  Wilkes out-shot DeSales, 14-6 and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

DeSales returns to action on Saturday, October 15th when they host Delaware Valley College in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 12:30 pm.
