Bethlehem, PA (October 20, 2011) – The DeSales University volleyball team suffered a set-back on Thursday evening, falling to local rival Moravian College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-19), ending its six-match winning streak at Johnston Hall.
Although a non-conference match, the Bulldogs (25-4) picked a bad time to have its first disappointing effort of the season after it was announced during the match on the NCAA web site that DSU had been ranked #6 in the first installment of the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings this week.
DSU managed just 20 kills on offense and had trouble keeping the ball in play with 17 errors. Freshman
Chrissy Banos performed the best with four kills and just one error and added four blocks.
Junior
Eden Reichard totaled 15 digs and freshman
Amanda Wallitsch and sophomore
Madeline Svrcek totaled 10 and 11 digs respectively.
DeSales has the weekend off to regroup before traveling to Eastern University for a Freedom Conference match at 7:00 pm with the winner earning the top seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs next Wednesday.
