Chester, PA (October 26, 2011) – Junior Tyler Nolan and sophomore Brett Morris teamed up to score both goals on almost exact plays leading the DeSales University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Widener University on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (14-3-1) earn an important win in terms of their regional ranking after learning just before the game that despite a loss last week, DSU stayed #2 in the latest NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings, just ahead of Freedom Conference rival Manhattanville College, who is third.

After a scoreless first half the Nolan-to-Morris duo went to work, breaking the scoreless tie with the first goal just 5:58 into the second half on a header off a long throw-in from Nolan.  Just 7:30 later, the two combined to score on nearly the same play as another Nolan long throw found Morris' head and into the net for his third goal of the year and a 2-0 Bulldog lead.

That was all the offense sophomore Mike Thompson and the DSU defense needed as Thompson made three saves to record his second shutout of the season and the fifth overall for the Bulldogs.

DSU returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they wrap-up its regular season with an extremely important Freedom Conference game as they host FDU-Florham at 2:30 pm.  The Bulldogs need a win to earn the top seed and home field advantage in next week's Freedom Conference playoffs.
