Madison, NJ (October 31, 2011) – The DeSales University men's soccer team had a frightful Halloween being forced to play its regular season finale on enemy turf and despite dominating play with a 35-6 edge in shots the Bulldogs were unable to find the net settling for a 0-0 tie with FDU-Florham to fall to the #2 seed in this week's Freedom Conference playoffs.

DeSales (14-3-2, 5-1-1 Freedom) dominated all 110 minutes of play but just couldn't find the game-winner.  Perhaps the two best chances came late in each half.

In the first half, sophomore Adam Berish had a goal on his foot and a wide open net in front of him after a crossing pass got past the FDU (5-13-1, 1-5-1 Freedom) keeper but his flick popped up into the air and caromed off the post with five minutes to play in the opening half.

In the second half, senior Nicholas Alderiso had a chance to end the game with less than a minute to play with the Devil keeper on the ground and out of the net.  His shot to the far post looked good but the FDU keeper miraculously got up off the ground and dove to poke the ball away from the top of the box.

The tie pushes the Bulldogs to the #2 seed, behind Manhattanville College, who finished the season 6-1, while DSU is 5-1-1.  The Valiants only loss came to DeSales early in the season at Manhattanville.  The Bulldogs will host Eastern University in the semifinal round on Thursday.  If the field at DeSales is playable by Thursday, the game time will be 2:00 pm.  If the field is not playable, the game will be moved to a local high school field at a game time to be announced.
