Center Valley, PA (October 6, 2011) – The DeSales University field hockey team pulled within one goal late mid-way thru the second half but could get no closer, dropping its first home game of the season, 3-1, to Arcadia University in a non-conference game on a gorgeous Thursday afternoon.
Arcadia (3-10) got on the board first taking a 1-0 first-half lead when
Morgan Paese tipped in a re-direction in front of the goalie off a corner shot at the 28:54 mark of the opening half.
A scoreless start to the second half was met with the Knights making it a two-goal game at the 52:03 mark when
Lindsay Iveson scored off a feed from
Lauren Altera, but the Bulldogs responded, getting on the board just 1:36 later to make it a one-goal game once again as sophomore
Amanda Trickey put home a pass from junior
Alyssa Knappenberger inside the box.
Arcadia regained its insurance tally just under eight minutes later though when
Molly Goldstein tipped home a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner feed to post the eventual final margin.
Arcadia out-shot the Bulldogs (4-6), 10-4, and held a 14-8 edge in penalty corners. Junior
Victoria DelToro made one save in the cage for the Bulldogs.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday, October 8th when they host FDU-Florham in an important Freedom Conference game beginning at 2:00 pm.
