Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2011) – The DeSales University field hockey team got within one goal with about six and a half minutes left but were unable to get the tying marker, falling to FDU-Florham, 2-1, in a Freedom Conference game on a hot Saturday afternoon.
The Devils (7-7, 2-0 Freedom) did all of their scoring in the first half, scoring their only two goals within 2:07 of each other as
Rebecca Bruns made it 1-0, knocking home the rebound of a saved shot and
Kelsey Kistle made it 2-0 just 2:07 later on a blast from the top of the circle.
DSU (4-7, 1-1 Freedom) battled in the second half, pulling within one at the 63:32 mark when freshman
Alison Malatesta put one past the Devils goalkeeper on the left side but the Bulldogs were unable to get the tying tally, suffering their third straight loss and the first in Freedom Conference play.
Junior
Victoria DelToro played well in between the pipes making several saves to keep DSU in the game and totaled eight saves on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs have a busy schedule with five games in a nine-day span starting Tuesday, October 11th when they travel to Albright College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
