Arlington, VA (November 18, 2011) – After shooting 57.5 percent in its season opener on Tuesday, the DeSales University men's basketball had a dismal shooting first-half on Friday, converting just 17.6 percent to fall behind early and were never able to get back in the game, falling to Marymount University, 68-58, in the opening round of the Marymount University Tip-off Tournament.

Junior Brett Moyer led the way with 16 points and senior Bob Zanneo tossed in 10 points to lead DeSales (1-1).  Sophomore Kyle Hash also contributed with nine points and a team-high seven boards, while senior Tom Marshall totaled eight points in the loss.

Jesse Konadu had a game-high 22 points, Antonio Rouse finished with 14 points, and Reed Scott added 11 points and seven boards in the win for Marymount (2-0).

After DeSales scored the first three points of the game on a three-point play by Moyer, MU scored the next 11 points to take an 11-3 lead and DSU was held to just one point over a span of seven minutes and found themselves trailing, 13-4, at the 12:32 mark.

The Bulldogs pulled within six points two possessions later but went the next 5:30 without a point as Marymount built a 19-7 lead with six minutes left in the opening half before DSU clawed its way within eight points at the break, 25-17.

DSU shot just 3-for-17 from the field in the opening half, but stayed in the game from the foul line, hitting 11-of-16 (68.8 percent).

After a back-and-forth start to the second half, six quick points from Marymount pushed the lead up to 15 points (38-23) with 13:03 left and the Bulldogs never got any closer than nine points with 3:44 left the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs shot much better in the second half (43.8 percent) but the Saints countered shooting 61.1 percent in the second half, out-scoring DSU, 43-41, in the second stanza.

DSU will take on Eastern Mennonite University in the consolation game on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 pm.
