Doylestown, PA (April 10, 2011) – The DeSales University baseball team dropped the opening game of the three-game weekend set on Thursday with Delaware Valley College but took both games on the road on Sunday afternoon by scores of 8-3 and 10-4 to win two out of three and take the season series with the Aggies.

In game one the Bulldogs (13-8, 8-2 Freedom) took control early and never looked back scoring twice in the first inning, three times in the second inning, and two more times in the third inning to lead 7-3.

In the first inning, sophomore Brian Mauro did the damage with a two-out two-run double. In the second Mauro had another RBI on a bases loaded walk and senior Carson Slonaker had an RBI single, while in the third senior Doc Neiman and junior Jason Hadinger each had RBI singles.

Sophomore David Drinks earned the win pitching 5.2 innings allowing just one earned run and striking out three. Junior Jack Kavetski and Hadinger each had two hits, while Mauro knocked in three runs in the game one win.

In the second game, the Bulldogs had to fight back as Delaware Valley (4-12, 1-5 Freedom) led 2-1 after three innings. A two-run fourth inning on an RBI double from Kavetski and an RBI single from Neiman gave DSU a 3-2 lead and the Bulldogs followed that with a seven-run fifth inning that blew the game open.

In the fifth, freshman Charles Dennis hit a two-run home run and Maura continued his monstrous day with a pinch-hit grand slam home run to give him seven RBIs on the day. Sophomore Colby Pacillo earned his fourth win of the year, going six innings scattering eight hits and allowing one unearned run.

Neiman had two more hits, junior Ethan Moser had two hits, sophomore Derek Chrismer had two hits, and junior Nick Chiovitti also had two hits to lead the 13-hit attack in game two.

The Bulldogs return to the diamond tomorrow evening when they travel to Rutgers-Camden for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
