Lavin Scores Late but Bulldogs Fall 4-1

Sophomore Sam Lavin scored her first goal of the season on Saturday at Ramapo.

Ramapo, NJ (September 10, 2011) – Sophomore Sam Lavin got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard for the first time this season but it wasn't enough as the DeSales University field hockey team fell, 4-1, to Ramapo College in a non-conference affair on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (0-3 overall) were out-shot, 22-4, in the game and Ramapo also enjoyed a slight advantage on penalty corners, 13-10.  Junior Victoria DelToro made nine saves in goal for DeSales.

After RC built a 4-0 lead at the half, the Bulldogs put together a strong second half of play, out-shooting the Roadrunners, 4-1 in the second half as Lavin scored her first goal of the season at the 64:27 mark on an assist from junior Alyssa Knappenberger.

The Bulldogs will look to get their first win of the season on Tuesday when they open its home schedule with a non-conference game vs. William Paterson University beginning at 4:00 pm.
