Lancaster, PA (September 10, 2011) – Junior Steve Krause scored twice and the DeSales University men's soccer team out-shot Eastern Mennonite University, 26-12, including a 9-1 edge in the two overtime periods, but were unable to get a third goal, settling for a tie at two thru 110 minutes of action on Saturday night in the opening round of the Elizabethtown College Tournament.

Krause started the scoring 19:14 into the game, taking a pass from senior Derek Long six yards outside the goal and firing a shot into the left corner for a 1-0 lead.

That lead stood until the 60th minute when EMU tied it at one on header by Mitchell Leap off a corner kick.  Eastern Mennonite then took a 2-1 lead just 11:32 later on a goal by Kevin Chico.

DeSales did not panic and found the tying goal just 4:30 later when Krause broke thru two defenders and scored unassisted, his third of the year tying the game.

The Bulldogs controlled play thru each of the two overtimes but was not able to find the back of the net as the game ended deadlocked at deuce.

Sophomore Mike Thompson made three saves, all in the first half, for the Bulldogs.

DSU has a quick turnaround, facing Washington & Lee tomorrow morning at 10:00 am in the second game of the tournament.
