Allentown, PA (September 10, 2011) – Junior
Justine McNulty was named Tournament Most Valuable Player leading the DeSales University volleyball team to two wins on Saturday and a 3-1 record overall this weekend at the Buttermaker Volleyball Tournament at Muhlenberg College.
After splitting its two matches on Friday night, DeSales rebounded with 3-0 wins over Albright College (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) and Kean University (26-24, 25-21, 25-17) on Saturday afternoon to improve to 7-2 overall on the young season.
In the win over Albright sophomore
Haley Petrarca once again led the way with a team-high 12 kills, while senior
Lauren Hickey and junior
Paige Horrigan each tallied nine kills with Horrigan adding four blocks. McNulty totaled five kills, 32 assists, 11 digs, and two blocks.
Junior
Eden Reichard had 18 digs and freshman
Amanda Wallitsch finished with two aces and seven digs.
In the win over Kean Horrigan had a team-high 12 kills and added two blocks, while McNulty had eight kills with no errors on 17 attempts and added 20 assists and 11 digs. Petrarca had six kills, Reichard recorded 14 digs, sophomore
Madeline Svrcek finished with 11 digs and Hickey added two blocks.
McNulty finished the two-day tournament with 18 kills, 103 assists (7.92 APS), and 48 digs for the Bulldogs.
DSU returns to action on Wednesday when they host King's College in the first Freedom Conference match of the season beginning at 7:00 pm.
