Center Valley, PA (September 28, 2011) – Freshman Julie Blessing and junior Paige Horrigan each had seven total blocks as the DeSales University volleyball team just missed the three-set record for blocks with 14 total in recording its 13th straight win, 3-0 (25-17, 29-27, 25-12), over Misericordia University on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs improve to 18-2 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom Conference with the win, while Misericordia falls to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom standings.  DSU hit .164 for the match, while the Cougars hit just .053.  DSU needed to grind out a second set win after Misericordia fought off several set points before the Bulldogs pulled out a 29-27 win.

Leading the way were DSU's two middles, Horrigan and Blessing, who each had nine kills and seven total blocks.  Senior Lauren Hickey added seven kills and four blocks.

Junior Justine McNulty finished with three kills, 32 assists, 15 digs, and two blocks, and junior Eden Reichard and freshman Amanda Wallitsch combined for 29 digs with some excellent defensive play in the back row.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday evening when they travel to Misericordia University for the Freedom/Commonwealth Conference cross-over, taking on Widener University and Messiah College with a chance to tie the record for consecutive wins currently at 15.
