BOX SCORE vs. Johns Hopkins
Baltimore, MD (September 3, 2011) – The DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on day two of the Johns Hopkins University Invitational, taking its first match vs. Goucher College, 3-0, before falling to tournament host, Johns Hopkins, 3-1, to finish in second place at the tournament.
The Bulldogs defeated Goucher in straight sets by scores of 26-24, 25-10, 25-22. In the Hopkins match, DSU dropped the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-19, rallied for a 26-24 third set win before falling just short in the fourth set, 25-23.

Justine McNulty led the way with seven kills, 15 assists, five service aces, and 10 digs. Senior
Lauren Hickey added seven kills, junior
Eden Reichard and freshman
Amanda Wallitsch combined for 23 digs, and the trip of sophomore
Haley Petrarca, junior
Paige Horrigan, and freshman
Julie Blessing each had four blocks and combined for 13 kills.
In the loss to the tournament host Blue Jays, McNulty again led the charge with eight kills, 36 assists, three service aces, and 14 digs. Hickey added 11 kills, P. Horrigan had 11 kills and five blocks, and Blessing added seven kills. Wallitsch finished with 15 digs and Reichard added 14 pick-ups.
Both Hickey and McNulty were named to the All-Tournament Team from the Bulldogs. DeSales returns to action on Tuesday when they host Muhlenberg College in its first home match of the season beginning at 7:00 pm.
