Second Half Dooms Women’s Soccer in 3-0 Loss at Virginia Wesleyan

Virginia Beach, VA (September 3, 2011) – Three second half goals was the difference as the DeSales University women's soccer team fought hard but came up empty in a 3-0 loss to Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon in the first game of the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament.

A scoreless first half that saw VWC out-shoot DSU, 6-3, was broken open in the 61st minute when Virginia Wesleyan got on the board for the first of three goals to upend the Bulldogs, 3-0, with a dominating second half performance that saw the hosts out-shoot DeSales, 16-1, in the second half.

Senior Melissa Millili made one save for the Bulldogs, playing the first half, while freshman Michelle Churchman had two saves in the second half in between the pipes.

DeSales returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they face Christopher Newport University in the second game of the tournament beginning at 1:00 pm.
