Gwynedd-Valley, PA (September 6, 2011) – On a day where not many outdoor sporting events took place in the Mid-Atlantic Region the DeSales University field hockey team traveled south to Gwynedd-Mercy College only to come back drenched and with a 3-0 loss to the Griffins in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

GMC (2-1) out-shot DSU (0-2), 27-5, and held a 14-2 edge in penalty corners.  Junior Victoria DelToro again played well making 14 saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game.

GMC didn't score the first goal until time had expired in the first half and added two more tallies early in the second half at the 36:55 mark and with 5:30 left in the game to post the final margin.  Freshman Alison Malatesta had a team-high three shots for DeSales.

DeSales will look to get its first win of the season on Thursday when they travel to Cedar Crest College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
