Bulldogs Win Fourth Straight in Series with Mules

Center Valley, PA (September 6, 2011) – Freshman Julie Blessing and senior Lauren Hickey each had seven kills and no errors in leading the DeSales University volleyball team past local rival Muhlenberg College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-10), to win its fourth straight match in the head-to-head series between the two teams on Tuesday night in Billera Hall.

DSU hit .233 for the match, increasing its hitting percentage in each of the three sets, while the Mules only hit .057 for the match.  The Bulldogs also dominated in the serve department, registering 18 total service aces, including eight from freshman Amanda Wallitsch, who also had a team-high 11 digs.

Blessing and Hickey recorded identical hitting lines of seven kills, zero errors, and 13 attacks for a .538 hitting percentage and junior Justine McNulty continued her stellar play with four kills, 19 assists, and seven digs.

Junior Eden Reichard picked up eight balls on defense, sophomore Madeline Svrcek had three kills and 10 digs, sophomore Emilie Baker finished with four aces and seven digs, and sophomore Haley Petrarca totaled five kills in the win.

The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend when they travel cross-town to the Muhlenberg College Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
