Dallas, PA (October 16, 2012) – Misericordia University broke a tie at one with just under 10 minutes left and that goal stood up as the Cougars snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

After MU (3-13, 1-4 Freedom) took a 1-0 lead 10:03 into the game and continued to lead by one goal at the break, DSU (3-11, 0-5 Freedom) tied the game at one, 11:51 into the second half when sophomore Alison Malatesta scored off an assist from junior Jen Burley off a corner.  It was Malatesta's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The game remained tied as the clock ticked under 10 minutes left but the Cougars regained the lead with 9:40 left and the Bulldogs were unable to find the tying marker again, suffering its ninth straight loss on the afternoon.

DeSales returns to action on Thursday when they travel to William Paterson University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
