Center Valley, PA (October 17, 2012) – Manhattanville College scored three goals to open Wednesday's game and the Bulldogs were never able to recover, falling to the Valiants 3-1 in what could prove to be a critical game in the Freedom Conference playoff race.

MVC (7-5-3, 4-1 Freedom) took a 1-0 lead at 19:29 when Alem Pelinkovic found himself unmarked on a corner kick and easily volleyed home the corner kick feed from Erick Olazabal for his first goal of the season.

The lead grew to two just under four minutes later when Olazabal let loose on what seemed to be a harmless shot from about 30 yards out, but sophomore Colin Sulpizio saw the ball slip thru his hands and trickle into the net for a 2-0 Valiant lead.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the 32nd minute when Eros Olazabal headed home a long pass over the top from Zack Weidner.

DSU showed some fight late in the first half when freshman Darby Alafoginis headed home a long throw-in from senior Tyler Nolan but the Bulldogs were unable to find the back of the net over the final 56+ minutes as Manhattanville earned the important road win.

The Bulldogs now sit at 8-5-3 overall but more importantly 2-2-1 in the Freedom Conference with seven points.  DSU must win its final two Freedom Conference games to give themselves a chance to earn one of the four playoff positions.

DeSales is next in action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 2:30 pm.
