Doylestown, PA (October 20, 2012) – Freshman Brandon Moninghoff broke a tie at one with less than nine minutes left leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past Delaware Valley College, 3-1, and keeping the Bulldogs playoff hopes alive entering the final week of the regular season.

DSU (9-5-3, 3-2-1 Freedom) now sits alone in fourth place but travels to FDU-Florham next Saturday needing either a win or a tie to clinch a top four spot in the postseason.  A loss to the Devils would give FDU the fourth and final spot.

The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 on Saturday after Tyler Yankovich scored on a penalty kick in the 34th minute, but DSU needed just 56 seconds to tie the game as freshman James Roche scored off a crossing pass from senior Padraic Farrell.

The tie score stood into the half and for most of the second half before Moninghoff broke thru and scored unassisted, his second goal of the season at 81:01 to give DSU a 2-1 lead and senior Tyler Nolan added the insurance goal just 2:37 later on a free kick to provide the final score.

Sophomore Colin Sulpizio made nine saves for the Bulldogs in between the pipes.

DSU is off all week to prepare of the important Freedom Conference match-up with the Devils next Saturday with game time set for 1:00 pm.
