Box Score
Center Valley, PA (September 1, 2012) – Sophomore twins
Alison Malatesta and
Alyssa Malatesta combined for two goals and three assists in leading the DeSales University field hockey team past local rival Moravian College, 3-1, in the 2012 season opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog win kept alive the streak of the home team winning all nine career games in the series between Moravian and DeSales.

DSU scored all three of its goals in the first half, dominating the scoring column in the first 35 minutes.  Freshman
Meryah Harding got it started with her first career tally, knocking in a centering pass from
Alison Malatesta at the 12:36 mark.

	Just under six minutes later
Alyssa Malatesta made it 2-0, again volleying in a centering pass across the box from her sister and two hooked up again just over 10 minutes later on virtually the exact same play to make it a 3-0 game at the 28:39 mark.

Moravian pulled within two goals at the 48:56 mark of the game on a tally from
Keriann Badessa but that was all senior
Victoria DelToro let pass in between the pipes, making seven saves and getting a little help from junior
Sam Szathmary late in the second half who made a defensive save to preserve the two-goal advantage.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 5th when they play host to Albright College beginning at 4:00 pm.
