Volleyball Splits Matches on Day Two of Sea Gull Classic

Salisbury, MD (September 15, 2012) – Senior Eden Reichard earned All-Tournament Team honors leading the DeSales University volleyball team to a split of its two matches on Saturday, day two of the Sea Gull Classic at Salisbury University.

DSU opened the afternoon with a 3-1 win (18-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-15) over Centenary College before falling 3-0 to tournament host Salisbury University, 25-9, 25-21, 25-13.

Leading the way in the Centenary win was Reichard with five kills, 17 digs and three blocks as well as fellow senior Paige Horrigan with 10 kills and five blocks.  Freshman Kait Anderson added six kills and four blocks, sophomore Julie Blessing had five kills and six blocks, and junior Macy Farrell finished with four kills and three blocks.

Sophomore Brooke Horrigan totaled 25 assists and had four service aces, while sophomore Amanda Wallitsch tallied 12 digs.

In the loss to Salisbury, Reichard had a team-high seven kills and added 10 digs.  Anderson finished with six kills, Blessing and P. Horrigan had four kills, B. Horrigan totaled 22 assists and nine digs, Wallitsch led the defense with 21 digs, Farrell finished with five kills, and junior Emilie Baker had 11 digs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday evening when they play host to Manhattanville College in Freedom Conference action and DSU's first home match of the season at 7:00 pm.
