Horrigan Named to All-Tournament Team as DSU Drops Two on Sunday

Sophomore Julie Blessing finished with a team-high 31 kills over the weekend.

Baltimore, MD (September 2, 2012) – Senior Paige Horrigan was named to the All-Tournament Team with a 25 kills and 11 blocks over the weekend as the DeSales University volleyball team wrapped up its first weekend of action with losses to Stevenson University and Cabrini College on Sunday at the Goucher College Tournament.

In the first match of the day on Sunday, DSU fell to Stevenson University, 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-11).  Sophomore Julie Blessing led the way with 10 kills and two blocks and P. Horrigan had 9 nine kills and three blocks.

Freshman Kait Anderson added seven kills and seven digs, sophomore Amanda Wallitsch had 22 digs, and sophomore Brooke Horrigan finished with 28 assists and 10 digs.

In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs fell to Cabrini, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-15).  Blessing again led the charge with eight kills and P. Horrigan finished with six kills.  Senior Eden Reichard added six kills and 11 digs and Wallitsch finished with 10 digs.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel cross-town to take on local rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 7:00 pm.
