New London, CT (September 21, 2012) – Sophomore Brooke Horrigan dished out 43 assists and five different players had at least eight kills as the DeSales University volleyball team opened the Bear Classic at the US Coast Guard Academy with a 3-0 win over Lasell College.

B. Horrigan came within six assists of tying the three-set match record set at 49.  Senior Paige Horrigan led the attack with 10 kills and three blocks, while sophomore Julie Blessing, senior Eden Reichard, and junior Macy Farrell each had nine kills.  Freshman Kait Anderson added eight kills.

Junior Emilie Baker finished with a team-high 19 digs and sophomore Amanda Wallitsch added three aces and 16 digs.

DSU takes on Middlebury College and the US Coast Guard Academy in two more matches tomorrow morning.
