Center Valley, PA (September 29, 2012) – The DeSales University men's soccer team opened its 2012 Freedom Conference schedule with an important 2-1 win over Eastern University, exacting some revenge for last season's playoff loss, on Homecoming Saturday.

The Bulldogs (7-2-2, 1-0 Freedom) are now unbeaten in their last five games.  DSU had a 1-0 lead at the half when sophomore Brandon Moninghoff scored his first goal of the season, flicking a long throw from senior Tyler Nolan over the Eastern goalkeeper's head at 25:19.

The lead swelled to two 15 minutes into the second half when Nolan did the work, heading home a corner kick feed from junior Adam Berish at 60:16.

Eastern cut the lead in half at 70:05 when Jair Saenz fired a free kick from about 22 yards out into the left corner of the net, but the Eagles were unable to get the tying marker as the Bulldogs held off a few late rallies.

Sophomore Colin Sulpizio made five saves in between the pipes as DSU held a slim 19-16 edge in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Franklin & Marshall College for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
