Bulldogs Drop Five Setter at Muhlenberg

Senior Eden Reichard had 10 kills and 17 digs in the loss at Muhlenberg on Wednesday.

Allentown, PA, (September 5, 2012) – Despite a 2-0 lead and 26 total kills from sophomore Julie Blessing and senior Paige Horrigan, the DeSales University volleyball team dropped a five set decision, 3-2, in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening at Muhlenberg College's Memorial Hall.

DSU took the first set, 25-23 and easily won the second set, 25-17, before dropping three close sets by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 15-13 to fall to the Mules.  The Bulldogs had led 12-11 in the fifth set but were unable to close the deal in the loss.

P. Horrigan led the way with 14 kills and hit .355 for the match adding three total blocks.  Blessing had 12 kills and hit .250, while also adding three blocks.  Senior Eden Reichard also played well with 10 kills and a team-high 17 digs.

Sophomore Brooke Horrigan finished with 37 assists and 11 digs, junior Emilie Baker had 16 digs, and sophomore Nicole Morin finished with 10 digs in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend, traveling back to Memorial Hall for the Muhlenberg College Tournament where they will take on Elizabethtown College and Washington College (MD) on Friday afternoon.
