Allentown, PA (September 7, 2012) – The DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on day one of the Buttermaker Tournament held at Muhlenberg College, falling to Elizabethtown College, 3-1, before blanking Washington College (MD), 3-0, on Friday evening.
DSU (2-5) split the first two sets in the loss to E-Town before dropping the third set, 25-10, but then held a 24-21 lead in the fourth set but the Blue Jays fought off those three set points and one more a few points later to earn a 30-28 win to decide the match.

Julie Blessing and freshman
Kait Anderson led the way with 13 kills each. Blessing hit .219 and Anderson had her best showing this season, hitting .281. Senior
Paige Horrigan also played strong with six kills and four blocks.
Sophomore
Brooke Horrigan also played well with 38 assists and sophomore
Amanda Wallitsch finished with 17 digs. Senior
Eden Reichard totaled six kills and 25 digs, sophomore
Nicole Morin added 15 digs, and junior
Macy Farrell registered six kills and two blocks.
The Bulldogs went right back to the court following the hard fought loss and swept Washington College (MD), 25-14, 25-23, 25-22. The win included 11 straight points in the second set after trailing, 23-14.
Horrigan had a team-high nine kills and hit .368, Blessing added seven kills and hit .240, and Reichard finished with eight kills and 16 digs. Wallitsch totaled 17 digs and B. Horrigan dished out 27 assists and had 12 digs.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they take on local rival Moravian College and Freedom Conference rival King's College on day two.
