Center Valley, PA (January 14, 2013) – Junior Sondrine Glovas recorded a new career-high in both points (29) and rebounds (14) dominating play on both ends of the floor leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Baruch College, 59-54, handing the Bearcats their first loss of the season in 13 games in non-conference action on Monday evening in Billera Hall.

Glovas records her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career in the win, while also adding three assists, six steals and a block to her stat line.  She shot 9-for-18 from the field and canned 10-of-13 from the free throw line.  Glovas 29 points move her within 35 points of becoming the 19th player in school-history with 1,000 career points.

After ending the first-half on a 13-2 run to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room led by Glovas' 15 points, the Bulldogs (10-5) continued to have control of the game leading 36-21 at the 17:49 mark of the second half after five quick points from junior Alexiah Grant to start the half.

But then the Bearcats (12-1) came roaring back.

BC scored the next 16 points as the Bulldogs missed 15 straight shots as Baruch took a one-point lead (37-36) with 10:11 left to play.  Glovas quickly answered with four straight points to give DSU a three-point cushion as the two teams traded baskets over the next four minutes.

Tied at 42 with 6:49 to play, Grant ignited a 11-2 run led by Glovas' five points and a three from junior Julia Duffy giving DSU a 53-44 lead with 4:37 on the clock.

The Bearcats had one more rally in them scoring seven straight points to pull within two (53-51) with 2:34 to go but two Glovas freebies and a lay-up on the next possession still only up two made it a four-point game twice and senior Taylor Greene iced the win with two free throws with 19 seconds left to give the Bulldogs the five-point win.

Grant added nine points and senior Colleen Gavin finished with six points and seven rebounds.  Junior Megan Gallagher pulled down eight boards and Green finished with five assists in the win as DSU forced 23 Bearcat turnovers.

Baruch was led by Sheridan Taylor with 15 points and 15 rebounds.  Jessica Duleba had 17 points and nine boards, while Jasmine Smarr finished with 10 points off the bench.

DeSales returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Misericordia University in a rematch of last year's Freedom Conference semifinal match-up won by the Cougars.  Game time is set for 6:00 pm.  All fans attending are encouraged to wear white in support of the Bulldogs.
