Haverford, PA (January 3, 2013) – Senior
Brett Moyer recorded his sixth double-double of the season and the DeSales University men's basketball team used a strong defensive effort en route to its ninth straight win, 64-41, over Haverford College on Thursday evening in Gooding Arena.
The Bulldogs (10-2), who had won its previous eight games by scoring 84.1 points per game and out-scoring the opposition by an average of 19.1 points per game, earned their ninth straight on defense, shutting down the Fords to just 41 points. DSU also entered the game after making its first appearance in the D3hoops.com national poll receiving one vote on Wednesday.
Moyer finished with 12 points and a season-high 14 rebounds to lead the way. Junior

Cody Deal added eight points off the bench. Junior
Andrew Kohler also played well with seven points and five boards.
DeSales jumped out early scoring the first seven points of the game, five by Kohler, and never looked back from there. The Bulldogs never trailed in the game. After the Fords (4-6) got within three points (7-4) early, DSU used an 11-2 run to take an 18-6 lead and Haverford never got any closer than eight points.
The lead peaked to as many as 23 points twice in the second half including the final tally.
The Bulldogs shot 55.3 percent from the field and once again dominated the glass out-rebounding the Fords, 42-23. DSU is now out-hustling teams on the glass by an average of 13.8 boards per game. The DSU defense held HC to just 31.1 percent shooting and the DeSales bench was outstanding scoring 28 points.
Brett Cohen led the Fords with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and four blocks.
The Bulldogs are off this weekend and will return to action on Monday when they host Arcadia University for a non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm.
