Huntingdon, PA (October 25, 2013) – Freshman Lauren Hess totaled 25 kills but the DeSales University volleyball team dropped the first match at the Wild Guisler Invitational held at Juniata College vs. Carnegie Mellon University on Friday evening.

The first three sets were all decided by two points, 28-26, 26-24, 24-26, before the Tartans scored seven straight points after trailing 11-10 in the fourth set en route to a 25-19 win and a 3-1 win in a tight four-set match.

Hess finished with 25 kills and hit .267 for the match.  Seniors Macy Farrell and Madeline Svrcek each had nine kills and Svrcek added 16 digs.  Junior Chrissy Banos added seven kills and three blocks.

Freshman Lisa Wallitsch finished with 50 assists and had 14 digs, junior Amanda Wallitsch totaled 21 digs, and graduate student Justine McNulty totaled 14 digs in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they take on host Juniata and Johns Hopkins University.
